Kamal Adwan, Nahida, Samar : Israeli forces storm and bulldoze hospital, killing patients and displacing Palestinians

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Israeli forces have carried out a devastating attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza, resulting in the deaths of numerous patients and injured Palestinians. The horrific incident was captured on video by Al-Jazeera videographer and reporter Anas al-Sharif, and the footage has since been uploaded online. Reports suggest that the hospital had been under direct siege for a continuous period of nine days, during which Israeli forces indiscriminately shot at anything within the vicinity. As a result, the hospital now lies in ruins, with little remaining of its once-functional structure.

In addition to the destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Israeli strikes targeted a home in Deir Al-Balah refugee camp in Central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of approximately 12 Palestinians and leaving 20 others wounded, according to reports from Anadolu Agency. The Israeli army has confirmed that an officer and a soldier were killed, while two officers and three soldiers sustained serious injuries in ongoing battles in both northern and southern Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has expressed deep concern over the tragic deaths of two Christian women, a mother and her daughter, who were killed by an Israeli sniper while en route to the Sister’s Convent on December 16, 2023. The Holy Family Parish in Gaza, where many Christian families have sought refuge during the conflict, became the site of this senseless act of violence. The victims, identified as Nahida and her daughter Samar, were shot in cold blood inside the premises of the Parish, despite the absence of any belligerents in the area. Shockingly, seven others were also shot and wounded as they tried to protect those inside the church compound.

Furthermore, earlier on the same day, an IDF tank fired a rocket at the Convent of the Sisters of Mother Theresa (Missionaries of Charity), which houses over 54 disabled individuals. This targeted attack destroyed the building’s generator, the sole source of electricity for the convent, and rendered the home uninhabitable. The disabled residents, some of whom rely on respirators to survive, are now displaced without access to these life-saving devices.

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has issued a statement condemning these acts of violence, emphasizing the lack of warning or notification provided by the IDF. The statement also mourns the loss of innocent lives and expresses solidarity with the affected families. The tragic events at Kamal Adwan Hospital, the Holy Family Parish, and the Sisters of Mother Theresa Convent highlight the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
