Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Two individuals, including a 25-year-old woman, tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident in Purandar taluka on Saturday morning. Additionally, two others, including the deceased woman’s infant, sustained injuries in the collision. The truck driver responsible for the accident fled the scene, prompting a search by the police.
The accident occurred around 8 am at Devdi village on Kapurhol Saswad road, according to officials from the Saswad police station under Pune Rural police. The victims have been identified as Ganesh Balasaheb Lekawale, 28, and Trupti Akshay Jagtap, 25. The injured parties are Trupti’s 2-year-old son, Krushna Akshay Jagtap, and her relative Prakash Baburao Darekar, 50.
Trupti, her son, and Darekar were traveling back home to Pune from her parents’ house, with Lekawale giving them a ride. Unfortunately, as they reached Devdi village, their car was struck by a truck, causing it to become trapped underneath and resulting in severe damage and critical injuries to the occupants.
Emergency services swiftly transported the injured victims to the hospital, where Lekawale and Trupti were pronounced dead. The truck driver, however, managed to flee the scene, leaving authorities to launch a search operation to locate him.
In a separate incident, four tourists sustained minor injuries when the SUV they were traveling in overturned on the road from Sinhagad Fort to Donje village on Sunday evening. The Haveli police station reported that the SUV, carrying a total of 12 passengers, experienced a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and collide with a rock face on the side of the road.
Out of the 12 passengers, four women sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.
These unfortunate accidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution at all times. Authorities are working diligently to locate the truck driver involved in the fatal collision, and investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
