Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Man Detained After Allegedly Striking Pedestrian and Driving with Dead Body in Passenger Seat
In a shocking incident that unfolded on Saturday night, a man was detained by authorities after allegedly fatally striking a pedestrian and then driving to a restaurant parking lot in White Settlement with the deceased body in his passenger seat. The incident took place in the 8700 block of I-30 service road, and local law enforcement responded to a call reporting extensive damage to a vehicle and a driver slumped over the steering wheel.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unmoving human body in the front passenger seat. The driver, identified as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, 31 years old, informed the police that he believed he had hit an animal in Dallas and had continued driving to the White Settlement parking lot. Emergency fire and medical personnel were called to the scene, but it was determined that the passenger had already succumbed to their injuries.
White Settlement police immediately contacted neighboring law enforcement agencies to piece together the details of the incident. Subsequently, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office informed them of a crash on the westbound service road of I-30 near Cockrell Hill Road. Human remains were discovered near the roadway, and authorities are currently working on establishing any potential connection between the remains and the body found in Flores’ vehicle.
Detectives suspect that the impact of the crash was so severe that it propelled the pedestrian into the vehicle, which was later identified as a gray Kia Forte. Astonishingly, Flores continued driving for approximately 38 miles to White Settlement following the collision. He is now in custody, and the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is reviewing potential criminal charges.
Medical examiners from Dallas and Tarrant counties will collaborate to identify the deceased passenger and determine the cause of death. Additionally, pending the results of a blood test administered to Flores, further charges may be added. The White Settlement police have seized the vehicle and will transfer custody to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have revealed that Flores had a previous encounter with law enforcement, as he was arrested by the Plano Police Department in 2020 for Driving While Intoxicated. He was subsequently convicted in 2021 in Collin County for the same offense. This prior history may have significant implications for the ongoing investigation.
