BREAKING : “SIT Arrests Bureaucrat’s Son for Attempted Murder of Social Media Influencer”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Thane Police have arrested Ashwajit Anil Gaikwad, the son of a senior bureaucrat, for allegedly attempting to run over his girlfriend, a prominent social media influencer, with his car. The arrest was made following an investigation conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amar Singh Jadhav.

Gaikwad’s two associates, Romil Patil and Sagar Shedge, were also apprehended by the police. The authorities have seized the vehicle used in the crime. The incident took place on Ghodbunder Road in Thane district at around 4 am on Monday.

According to the DCP, an argument ensued between the victim, Ashwajit, and his two accomplices. The victim sustained severe injuries after Gaikwad attempted to run her over with his car. She was immediately admitted to a hospital, where her statement was recorded by the police. A case has been registered against all three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The victim, who had been in a relationship with Gaikwad for over four years, expressed her shock upon discovering that he was married. She claimed that Gaikwad had assured her that he was no longer with his wife and wanted to marry her. However, when she went to meet him that night, she found him with his wife, which led to a heated argument and physical altercation.

The social media influencer suffered multiple and severe injuries, including three broken bones in her right leg. She filed an FIR on the day of the incident, but no immediate action was taken. It was only after she shared her ordeal on social media that the police responded and took action.

While a case has been registered against Gaikwad and his associates, the victim’s lawyer has requested additional charges under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) and Section 356 (assault or criminal force in an attempt to commit theft) due to the nature of her injuries. If the police fail to comply, they plan to approach the high court.

The victim’s lawyer also revealed that she is stable but has sustained severe injuries. As the investigation continues, the police will further probe the incident based on the victim’s statement.
