The White Settlement Police Department received a welfare check call late on Saturday night and immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered a gray Kia Forte with significant damage to the front end and windshield in the parking lot of the fast-food establishment. To their horror, they noticed what appeared to be a deceased individual in the front passenger seat. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, was promptly detained.

Flores reportedly informed authorities that he believed he had hit an animal in Dallas and continued driving until reaching the Jack in the Box parking lot. At that time, no such reports had been filed. However, the following morning, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office notified the White Settlement Police Department of a crash on the westbound service road of Highway 30 near Cockrell Road. Human remains matching the victim’s body were discovered near the roadway, further linking the incident to Flores’s vehicle.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation, as it is believed that the crash occurred within their jurisdiction. Both the Dallas County and Tarrant County medical examiner’s offices will collaborate to identify the victim.
