Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Man Arrested After Fatally Striking Pedestrian and Hiding Body in Passenger Seat

WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas – In a shocking turn of events, a man has been taken into custody by the police after allegedly hitting a pedestrian on Saturday night and then driving to a restaurant parking lot in White Settlement with the lifeless body in his passenger seat, which had shattered the vehicle’s front windshield upon impact.

The incident came to light when law enforcement received a welfare check call shortly after 11 p.m. Responding swiftly, an officer arrived at a Jack in the Box parking lot to find a gray Kia Forte with severe damage to its front end, hood, and windshield. To the officer’s horror, a deceased individual was spotted in the passenger seat.

The driver, later identified as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, was promptly detained by the authorities. First responders, upon closer inspection, confirmed the grim fate of the person in the passenger seat. Regrettably, the victim’s identity remains undisclosed at this time.

According to police reports, Flores claimed that he initially believed he had struck an animal in Dallas before deciding to drive to the restaurant parking lot. Shockingly, he failed to notify the authorities about the incident. Despite reaching out to multiple agencies, no hit-and-run or pedestrian-related crashes had been reported in the area.

Utilizing Flock cameras, which utilize license plate tracking, law enforcement was able to determine that the accident likely occurred between Arlington and White Settlement, specifically in the 1900 block of E. Mayfield at New York Avenue, shortly after 6 p.m. Investigators theorize that the force of the impact propelled the pedestrian into the vehicle, eventually landing them in the passenger seat.

Surprisingly, Flores arrived at the restaurant parking lot between 8 and 9 p.m., several hours before the incident was reported to 911. As a result, Flores has been apprehended and is currently in custody. However, pending further review by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, specific criminal charges are yet to be determined.

This tragic incident serves as a chilling reminder of the importance of reporting accidents promptly and responsibly. As the investigation continues, authorities hope to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this devastating collision and provide justice for the victim and their family.
